Row The Golden Boat

Since the turn of the calendar, Minnesota, who had previously been in a fight to stay out of the basement of this chart, has picked up ten new commitments, including three-star running back Mohamed Ibrahim.

On the surface, the new commits won't necessarily wow anyone based on their pedigree, but getting commitments of any kind is a win for Minnesota right now. While it's too late in the cycle to truly reap the benefits of the new coach bump in recruiting, P.J. Fleck and company could be looking at a strong 2018 class.

What "strong recruiting class" means for Minnesota is yet to truly be known, but there's no doubt that the energetic and exciting Fleck will draw far more interest to the Golden Gopher program than past coaches may have.

The Rich Get Richer

Ho hum, another day, another five-star commit for Ohio State. Adding cornerback Jeffrey Okudah to the mix gives the Buckeyes commitments from two of the top-five cornerbacks in the 2017 class. Okudah and Shaun Wade will combine to form a deadly duo in the coming years, and a physically large one, at that (both stand 6'1 or taller).

The good news for fans of the rest of the Big Ten is that five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes, long considered a strong Ohio State lean, shocked everyone by committing to UCLA last weekend over the Buckeyes. Holmes would have given Urban Meyer three of the top-five corners in the class. Phew.

Ohio State's class continues to become more and more beastly with every passing day, as they sit at No. 2 in the country behind Alabama, despite holding just 18 commitments.

This will likely be our last look at the Big Ten's classes until National Signing Day itself, but don't expect any crazy shakeups in the rankings before then. The biggest potential development (aside from Ohio State adding another five-star) would be a potential flip of five-star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley from Auburn to Maryland, though that appears less likely at this point than it did a week ago.
