Despite a strong closing effort from the Penn State coaching staff, five-star 2017 defensive end Joshua Kaindoh has verbally committed to the Florida State Seminoles, and will enroll early.
There was a lot of steam behind the "Kaindoh to PSU" train following his de-commitment from Maryland and subsequent visit to Happy Valley, but the allure of playing for Florida State, a school that his IMG coaches surely pushed him towards, was too much for Franklin and company to overcome.
Though it's disappointing to see Kaindoh heading elsewhere, losing out on a defensive end is hardly the end of the world for Penn State with the incredible depth they already have at the position. In 2016 we saw all of Garrett Sickels, Evan Schwan, Torrence Brown, Shareef Miller and Ryan Buchholz man the edges, with only Schwan set to graduate. Not to mention Shane Simmons, Shaka Toney and Daniel Joseph are all potential ends who redshirted this year.
Oh, and Penn State also happens to hold commitments from one of the best defensive players in Pennsylvania high school football this year (Damion Barber) and one of the highest upside prospects at the position (Yetur Matos).
