With the balance of Penn State's recruiting class of 2017 set to arrive on campus next week, one prospect will have to wait a little longer. Four-star defensive end Damion Barber (Harrisburg, PA) will be arriving in State College at the end of July, per a report from Audrey Snyder of DKPittsburghSports.com.
Here is what Barber told Snyder regarding his situation:
"I gotta do some classwork, some college courses. I’ve already graduated, but I’ve gotta do some of my college courses and then I’ll get up there on July 30,” Barber said following Tuesday night’s Big 33 practice at Central Dauphin East High School. “Coach told me to worry about my school first and he said once I get up there I’ll do whatever I can and as much as I can -- and I gotta do as much as I can while I'm home."
By the time he signed with the Lions in February, Barber was a top-200 prospect according to 247Sports, and top-300 player per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Assuming everything goes to plan off of the field, Barber should be ready to join his new teammates in time for fall camp, and compete for a spot along the line.
