Beilein spent 12 seasons as the Wolverine's head coach and has been a head coach at the D1 level since 1992. Michigan has won two of the past three Big Ten tournaments under his leadership. He went 754–425 during his collegiate coaching career and 278–150 at Michigan.
He will take over a Cavs team that is searching for an identity in the post-Lebron-era. They finished the 2018-19 season with a 19-63 record and tied for the best odds to win the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery.
