Wake Forest has hired East Tennessee State's Steve Forbes as their next head men's basketball coach.

An Iowa native, Forbes' first head coaching gig was with Northwest Florida State, a JUCO program in Florida's Panhandle Conference. He then joined Greg Marshall's staff at Wichita State, helping lead the Shockers to No. 1 seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

He spent the past five seasons at East Tennessee State, compiling a 130-43 record and twice winning the Southern Conference. He was named SoCon Coach of the Year this season, leading the Buccaneers to a 30-4 record.

Wake Forest parted ways with Danny Manning after six seasons, where he went 78-111, including a 30-80 mark in conference and made just one NCAA Tournament appearance, losing in the 2017 First Four.
