Wake Forest Hires Steve Forbes As Head Basketball Coach

Wake Forest has hired East Tennessee State's Steve Forbes as their next head men's basketball coach.

An Iowa native, Forbes' first head coaching gig was with Northwest Florida State, a JUCO program in Florida's Panhandle Conference. He then joined Greg Marshall's staff at Wichita State, helping lead the Shockers to No. 1 seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. 

He spent the past five seasons at East Tennessee State, compiling a 130-43 record and twice winning the Southern Conference. He was named SoCon Coach of the Year this season, leading the Buccaneers to a 30-4 record. 

Wake Forest parted ways with Danny Manning after six seasons, where he went 78-111, including a 30-80 mark in conference and made just one NCAA Tournament appearance, losing in the 2017 First Four.
