Mike Riley is out as Nebraska's head coach after three 'eh' seasons in Lincoln.

Cornhuskers Athletic Director Bill Moos axed Riley one day after the Iowa Hawkeyes sideswiped Nebraska, 56-14, capping a 4-8 season. In his three seasons at Nebraska, Riley finished 19-19 overall and under .500 (12-14) in the Big Ten.

"Riley has brought professionalism and energy to the Nebraska football program, but unfortunately, those attributes have not translated to on-field success," Moos said in a statement.

Penn State rolled up on Nebraska two weeks ago in a Senior Day match-up. The Nittany Lions won 56-44 at Beaver Stadium, racking up 609 total yards and eight touchdowns.

Nebraska will hold a 1 p.m. press conference to discuss the firing. Is new coaching free agent BERT BIELEMA a candidate in Lincoln? STAY TUNED.
