Former Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush will officially join the UCF Knights as a graduate transfer.
A one-time Penn State commit, Wimbush started all 12 games for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2017. He entered the 2018 season as the Irish's starter but was replaced by Ian Book after three games due to shaky play through the air.
After a devasting injury left UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton's football future up in the air, it was natural for the Knights to look for a replacement while Milton recovers. It is still unknown when Milton will be able to play, but Wimbush's transfer seems to a be a sign it won't be anytime soon.
He finished his Notre Dame career throwing for 2606 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 50.5% of his passes. He also ran for 1156 yards and 16 touchdowns.
