Florida State has named Mike Norvell the 11th head coach in program history.
The 39-year-old has spent the past four seasons as Memphis' head coach, going 38-15 with three AAC Championship game appearances, winning the conference title this season. He has also coached at Central Arkansas, Tulsa, Pitt, and Arizona State.
Norvell is one of the brightest offensive minds in the sport, with the Tigers ranking in the top ten nationally in both total and scoring offense. The Tigers will represent in the Group of Five in this year's Cotton Bowl, making this the first New Year's Six appearance for the program.
Florida State fired Willie Taggart after less than two seasons in Tallahassee, going 9-12 during his tenure. They missed a bowl game for the first time since 1981 a season ago but salvaged a 6-6 season in 2019.
