Hafley spent just one season in Columbus, helping lead the Buckeyes to the No. 2 total defense in the country and their first playoff birth since 2016. The Buckeyes were one of just two teams to allow fewer than 150 yards per game through the air.
Hafley joined Ryan Day's staff after spending the previous seven season as a secondary coach in the NFL. Before becoming part of the Ohio State staff, his last collegiate coaching experience came as Rutgers' secondary coach in 2011.
Boston College fired Steve Addazio after seven seasons, where he 44-44 and won seven games five times.
Hafley will remain with Ohio State throughout their playoff run.
