A four-star quarterback in the 2019 class, Taulia served as the Tide's third-string quarterback this past season, appearing in five games, completing nine passes for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Second-year Maryland head coach Mike Locksley served as Alabama's offensive during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, helping lead the Tide to a national championship and developing Tua into one of college football's best quarterbacks. Locksley recruited Taulia to Alabama, so the two already have a strong relationship.
Taulia is expected to have to sit out this year to transfer, which would make him a redshirt sophomore when he is eligible for the 2021 season.
