That was a tough one. This is a tough one to write. Onward.

  • Okay so let's just get this out of the way. Two things can be true. Ta'Quan Roberson is not a good quarterback. He played hard today.
  • Does this game play out differently if Strange catches those two passes? I think: yes
  • Ugh
  • Everyone reading this knows that this is a completely different game if Clifford was healthy. The math doesn't really change with this result. Beat Ohio State, beat Michigan, and let's boatrace these losers in Indianapolis.
  • I truly do not understand the visceral reaction from Iowa fans to our guys "faking" injuries. Anyone that knows football knows that wasn't happening, but they were so quick to blow smoke out of their ears like a cartoon character. I don't get it.
  • What were they chanting, Gus?
  • Tale of two halves if I've ever seen one. I thought we were dominating the line of scrimmage in the first 20 minutes of gameplay. It quickly devolved.
  • I'm just as bewildered about those false start penalties as you are. I thought that was something they could get cleaned up at halftime. I was wrong.
  • There were some extremely questionable Kirk Ferentz decisions made in this game. Nobody will question them because his name is not James Franklin.
  • The amount of shotgun snaps Roberson took when it made absolutely no sense to do so is just a big head scratcher for me.
  • Let's talk about that fourth and three play late in the fourth. You know these guys are playing cover 2 in that situation. If your main read is going to be to the RB flaring out to the right, there has to be a route that takes the CB up the field enough to make the spacing work.
  • The bye week could not have come at a better time. I will be dog sitting a very cute dude next weekend, which is the exact therapy I need after this one.
  • 0-1. Dang.
