The UConn Huskies are heading back to the Big East in 2020.

The Huskies were one of the original members of the conference, which formed in 1979. The Big East remained mostly unchanged for over 30 years until a massive conference realignment began at the start of the decade.

The move back seems to be universally loved, but it will come at a cost to the football program. The Big East does not offer FBS-level football and the American Athletic Conference has made it clear that the Huskies would not be allowed to stay in as a football-only member. The Huskies football program must now find a new home or join the Independent ranks.

It is unknown if the American will attempt to add another team to its ranks to replace UConn.
