I couldn't tell if it was Michigan's defense or Florida's offense, but the parts I saw were ugly.
As with most things, it is probably somewhere in between. Regardless, some things still come through clear as day regardless of the level of competition. The were well ahead of where I thought they would be on opening weekend and probably closer to where I thought they would be a month in. That is at least a little concerning. I thought their offense looked like it took a full step back from the opening weekend last year.
Success with honor
I think you are over-rating Maryland (who is improving but just lost their starting QB for the year and will not have a true freshmen running the show with little depth) and under-rated Michigan State. We'll have a better understanding of where Sparty is Saturday as PJ Fleck left Western in good shape. Brian Lewerke looked as good last weekend as any QB in the Big Ten. If he stays healthy watch out. The 3 and 9 2016 Spartans reminded me of the 2003 Lions who had the same record and some holes but were a competent QB away 8 or 9 win seasons. If Lewerke is that guy, they should take a big step up this year.
I would the Twerps down three notches and stick Sparty in their place.
I don't disagree. But these are staff votes, not just me. Also, they're power rankings, so it's okay to bump them up higher for a week since they were definitely more impressive than Sparty.
Though Sparty still has a ton of holes to deal with.
