Seems like a great hire! Absolutely insane that he and Franklin worked together nearly 2 decades ago.

nothing gets em going like C chaser's picture

Return Yardage really hinges on having a playmaker back there (cough Hamler cough) but the most impressive stat is no return TDs

fighters, I said fighters

True, but you could have the most electric player in the nation returning kicks, but if the guys in front of him have no idea what they're doing....

We need some perspective on the below claims given that Memphis played at a lower level. Points 1 and 4 are essentially meaningless due to Tony Pollard's individual ability. Number 2 is good. Number 3 needs some perspective given how infrequent return TDs are. The fact that he has a previous relationship with Franklin is a big fat negative in my book given how much his brand of cronyism has cost us.

1. Top-five in FBS kick return average twice.

2. Top-20 in FBS kick return defense all three years.

3. No touchdown returns allowed all three years.

4. Tony Pollard tied both a school and FBS record with seven career kickoff return touchdowns, including four in 2017 alone. Pollard earned AAC Special Teams Player of the Year honors in 2016 and 2017, and is among the FBS career leaders with a 30.1 yards per return average.

Success with honor
