Penn State's all-time leader in passing yards is getting another chance to stick in the NFL, as Christian Hackenberg has been signed by the Eagles. Hackenberg joins the Philadelphia quarterback group that already includes Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Nate Sudfeld, and Joe Callahan.
Given the presence of Wentz and Foles, not to mention Sudfeld who spent much of the latter half of the 2017 season with the team, it looks like it will be an uphill battle for Hackenberg to make the 53-man roster. Still, signing with a team that has had great success within their quarterback room recently could be a great career move for the former second-round pick.
Hackenberg will likely be given a decent chance to earn a spot as the third name on the depth chart with three preseason games still remaining, and with both Wentz and Foles either returning from injury or dealing with a nagging one currently, that's not an insignificant role.
Hackenberg was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has yet to appear in a regular season game.
