Former Penn State safety Marcus Allen earned his spot on the Steelers 53-man roster but has yet to appear in a game this season. That will change today, as the former four-year starter will make his NFL regular season debut on Sunday. With safety Morgan Burnett out with a back injury, Allen has been activated for the Steelers Sunday night game against the Los Angelees Chargers.
Allen was selected by the Steelers in the fifth-round of the NFL Draft but has been inactive all season. Burnett has missed four games so far this season but was replaced on the active roster by Cameron Sutton, who is also out Sunday. In their last two games, the Steelers have struggled to stop the run so the presence of Allen could bolster that unit.
Penn State fans need no reintroduction to Allen who was the leader of the Penn State secondary for his final two seasons. In reality, any chance we get to show his blocked field goal against Ohio State, we are going to pounce on it.
