Trace McSorley had already made a case to get the backup quarterback job in Baltimore heading into week three of the NFL preseason thanks to Robert Griffin III's fractured thumb bone (An RG3 injury? Gasp!), but he may have just cemented his hold on that spot with this touchdown pass to Michael Floyd.
Despite being just a 6th-round draft pick, the former Penn State superstar is a snug fit to back up Lamar Jackson. While he does not not possess the same freak athleticism that Jackson does, McSorley is comfortable running a very similar style of RPO-based offense. Should Jackson be forced to miss time at any point, Baltimore will be able to keep their playcalling consistent, something they would not have been able to do if they kept Joe Flacco.
