Former Penn State safety Lamont Wade is signing with his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Clairton, PA native was a four-year contributor for Penn State, and spent the past two seasons starting at safety. He earned All-Big Ten honors the past two seasons and finished his career with 153 tackles, 11 passes defended, one pick, and one return touchdown.

If Wade wants to make an NFL roster, he's going to have to earn his place on special teams. He can be a difference-maker as a returner, and is more than capable of helping in kick coverage.

He reunites with former Nittany Lion teammates, safety Marcus Allen and this year's second round draft pick tight end Pat Freiermuth.
