Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons has been selected by the Dallas Cowboys with No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He becomes the second Big Ten player taken and the first linebacker off the board.
Parsons played just two seasons for the Nittany Lions before opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He totaled 192 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in 26 career games and just 13 starts. He earned All-American honors following his sophomore season which was capped with a dominant performance in the 2019 Cotton Bowl which introduced the talented backer to a national audience.
A former five-star prospect, Parsons will be a day one starter for the Cowboys but he's still nowhere near his ceiling. He's played just two seasons at linebacker and has a lot of room to grow, but the fact that he was selected so highly shows how special of a talent he is.
Parsons' final collegiate game was in the Cowboy's home stadium - the 2019 Cotton Bowl. He dominated with 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks.
Best of luck in Dallas, Micah!
