Former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday night. Parsons becomes the first Dallas Cowboys rookie to win the award.
Parsons was selected in the 1st round (12th overall) by the Cowboys in April's NFL Draft. The Harrisburg native took the NFL by storm and finished his impressive rookie campaign with 84 tackles of which 20 went for a loss. Not that that wasn't impressive, but he also added 13 sacks which ranks third all-time for a rookie.
Penn State fans didn't get to see Parsons in his final season as he opted out, but his final game in the Cotton Bowl against Memphis will not soon be forgotten. He finished the game with 14 tackles and two sacks and was named the Defensive MVP of the game.
Parsons becomes the third straight Big Ten player to win Defensive Rookie of the Year joining Ohio State's Chase Young (2020) and Nick Bosa (2019). Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018.
