Twenty-three athletes and coaches with ties to Penn State will head to Rio de Janeiro for the 31st Summer Olympics. Current and former Nittany Lion athletes representing five different countries will compete in 10 sports. Penn State released a full overview of the students, former students, and alumni heading to Brazil.

Things get rolling on Wednesday night, as the U.S. women’s soccer team – which features two Penn State alumni in right back Ali Krieger and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher – faces New Zealand two days before opening ceremonies. All events are available via and the NBC Sports app. TV listings will be added as they become available and we’ll update with reports on performances.
