It was another banner year for Nittany Lions athletics, and as such, a banner year for the Commonwealth's landmark institution. Due to all of their success on- and off- the-field, state senator Jake Corman, who represents State College in Harrisburg, invited some of those teams to be honored on the floor in the state capital on Monday. An alumnus of Penn State, Corman always keeps an eye on the university and had a special message for Coach James Franklin and the football team in particular.

"Coach Franklin, the only thing I'd ask you, next year, if you do nothing else, please beat the University of Pittsburgh. I'm tired of hearing it here on the Senate floor here from my colleagues from the western part of the state."
In addition to honoring Franklin's squad, Corman also made sure to single out the coaches and members of the field hockey, women's soccer, men's ice hockey, wrestling, and men's and women's indoor track and field teams.
