Two of the first official recruiting visits of the Micah Shrewsberry era are in the books.

Following the conclusion of the lengthy NCAA recruiting dead period, Class of 2022 four-star shooting guard A.J. Brown was on campus this past Wednesday for a tour and to meet with his potential future coaching staff.

It seems like Brown enjoyed his first visit to Happy Valley, which marks his first official visit anywhere, according to 247Sports.

It will be interesting to see what further visits Brown takes in the weeks/months ahead, but it’s a good sign from Penn State’s perspective that they seem to have been out ahead of everyone else in pitching their program to Brown.

Some of Brown’s other offers include Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, Penn and Temple.

Fellow Class of 2022 guard Otega Oweh was also on campus for an official visit recently.

The 6-foot-4 guard, who is the younger brother of former Penn State football player Odafe Oweh, is 247Sports Composite's No. 3-ranked player in New Jersey and No. 97-overall.

He recapped his visit in an interview with 247Sports' Dushawn London.

“It was good. I really enjoyed it. I got to go out there and see how they would really use me and how I would fit in their program. It was a good visit. They were saying how they love my versatility and I would play the same way I play now, like how I get the rebound push helps control the offense, come off screens and all that type of things.”

“I got a really good vibe from the coaching staff. It's always good to go up to the campuses and see what it really looks like. Also seeing how genuine the coaches are meant a lot.”

In addition to Penn State, Oweh is also receiving strong interest from Miami FL., Minnesota, Georgia and Washington.

Upcoming Visits
We previewed most of these in last week’s recruiting update, but it never hurts to refresh the memory.

Penn State will have multiple visits in the coming days.

June 10 and 11: Four-star combo guard Judah Mintz. He’ll spend a couple days on campus after visits to Pitt and Georgetown earlier in the week.

June 11: Three-star combo guard Trey Pettigrew. Pettigrew is the No. 5-ranked prospect in Arizona.

June 12: Four-star point guard Dug McDaniel. The No. 4-ranked player in Virginia per 247Sports composite, McDaniel will take an unofficial visit to Penn State. While he appears to be a Michigan lean, the 5-foot-9 Fairfax, Virginia, native has been in communication with assistant coach Aki Collins and received an offer from the Nittany Lions on April 27. His other offers include Bryant, the aforementioned Michigan, UConn, Florida, George Mason, Georgia and others.

June 13: Four-star forward Cam Whitmore out of Maryland. Whitmore will continue a tour of Pennsylvania with an official visit to Penn State on June 13. He reportedly visited Villanova and Pitt on June 11 and 12, respectively.

Recent Offers
Penn State extended an offer to Class of 2022 combo guard Jalen Hood-Schifino on June 2.

Hood-Schifino is the No. 6-ranked player in Florida for the ‘22 class and the No. 26-ranked player overall, according to 247Sports Composite.

He had originally committed to Pitt back in 2019 but reopened his recruitment last July. Pitt is still heavily in the mix, as are the likes of Tennessee, Indiana and Georgetown.

While piecing together the ’22 class is the staff’s main area of focus, there is also some work already being done for the 2023 recruiting cycle.

There was an offer extended to ’23 guard Jason Rivera on June 8.

Listed at 6-foot-6, 170 pounds, Rivera plays his high school ball at Iona Preparatory School in New York.

Other notes
Per 365 Recruits, Class of 2022 power forward Khalif Crawley Jr. is receiving interest from Penn State.

So too is five-star power forward Jalen Washington, who got an offer from the Nittany Lions on April 27.

Washington is the top-ranked player in Indiana for 2022 and the No. 19-ranked prospect overall, per 247Sports Composite.

He recently took a visit to North Carolina and has a visit scheduled at Stanford on June 12.

Some of his other offers include Alabama, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue and Marquette.

Penn State made the signing of Western Michigan transfer forward Greg Lee official on Tuesday.

The Nittany Lions also earned a commitment from Class of 2022 guard Kanye Clary, who marked the first high school commitment for Penn State under Shrewsberry.
