Penn State received some big news on Friday afternoon, quite literally. Tolu Jacobs, a 7'0, 270-pound center out of California, announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. Jacobs took in the electric atmosphere for the football game against Michigan on October 21, and two weeks later he becomes Pat Chambers' third commitment in the class of 2018.

Jacobs is a very new name for Penn State fans. His first known interest in the program (and vice versa) was made known during his trip for the Michigan game. The behemoth senior also had offers from Georgetown and Nevada, per VerbalCommits.com. 247Sports.com also cited high-major offers from Butler, California, and San Diego State.

Penn State was always in need of a big man in either the 2018 or 2019 classes, even before considering the potentially precarious Mike Watkins situation. Should he confirm his commitment on National Signing Day (Nov 8), Jacobs will potentially join a 2018-19 team with fellow bigs Watkins (redshirt junior), Satchel Pierce (redshirt senior), and John Harrar (academic sophomore).
Jacobs represents the final open scholarship for the Nittany Lions' class of 2018. He joins longtime-commit Myles Dread and point guard Rasir Bolton in Penn State's next freshman class. Welcome, Tolu!
