Penn State is set to host Temple on Wednesday, and the in-state matchup will carry a little more intrigue than the typical first-round NIT game.
Temple head coach Fran Dunphy was asked about the Owls' opening round matchup against the Nittany Lions and made some rather on-the-nose comments comparing the recruiting practices of the two programs. From Owls Daily's Shawn Pastor:
"I know that (Penn State Coach) Patrick Chambers made a special move to make that happen as best as he possibly could,” Dunphy said. “They worked hard at it. And most of the guys that he recruited, we also recruited. And I feel really good about how we recruit, and how we go about doing what we do. And nobody will be as sincere and honest and as to the point in recruiting as Temple will be."
Dunphy does not name specific players or specific violations, but makes a clear choice to compare Temple's "sincere and honest" recruiting practices to those of Penn State.
The Nittany Lions host Temple Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. The game (and post-game handshake) will be televised on ESPNU.
