Another piece of the Penn State men's basketball schedule puzzle is in place, as the program confirmed Monday that it will take on North Carolina State this December in a game in Atlantic City. The December 15 event at Boardwalk Hall is being touted as the first "Hall of Fame Boardwalk Classic." Other teams in the one-day quadruple-header include Washington, Virginia Tech, Temple, and Davidson.

It was rumored for some time that the Nittany Lions would be participating in a game in Atlantic City, though previous whispers had Penn State taking on La Salle. A neutral site game against NC State is a significant upgrade for Penn State in terms of out-of-conference strength of schedule.
The two teams faced off last season in Raleigh in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, with the Wolfpack winning 85-78. Center Omer Yurtseven led NC State with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Notably, Yurtseven transferred to Georgetown this offseason.
NC State is coming off a season in which they finished 21-12 under first year head coach Kevin Keatts. The Wolfpack were a 9-seed in the NCAA Tournament, falling in the first round to Seton Hall.
