Former Penn State point guard and New Orleans Pelicans second round draft selection Tony Carr will sign with Fiat Torino, according to a report by Sportando. Fiat Torino competes in the top level of Italian professional basketball, Lega Basket Serie A.

One interesting thing to note, as pointed out in the tweet by Sportando: Fiat Torino is coached by Larry Brown, who the club hired last month. Brown last coached at Southern Methodist, where he built an NCAA contender that was quickly torn down by academic fraud, forcing Brown to resign in July 2016. Brown has infamously ran afoul of NCAA recruiting and academic policies at every college head coaching job he has had.

If Carr is confirmed to be signing with Fiat Torino, he will spend the 2018-19 season playing overseas, as the Pelicans will not include any contract with Carr on their payroll and he will not impact their salary cap. They will retain his rights and have the option to sign him again for the 2019-20 season.
