The Nittany Lion 2020-2021 schedule got a little spicier with the addition of a big-time, brand-name opponent. Penn State hoops will face the Florida Gators in the Barclays Center as part of Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational in mid-December.

The Nittany Lions played two games in the Barclays Center last year, losing a heartbreaker to Ole Miss before securing a dominant win over the Syracuse Orange.

The matchup will be one of four games played as part of the event, with the other contests being Purdue-West Virginia, Georgia Tech-Stanford, and Army-Princeton. All four games will be played on Sunday, December 13 with game and TV times to be announced later.

The Gators went 19-12 last season, with an 11-7 record in SEC play. They were the No. 5 seed in the SEC Basketball Tournament, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Penn State is 2-1 all-time against Florida in basketball. The Nittany Lions won the last matchup 71-62 back in 2009.
