Update (4/12/21) - Penn State has made Mike Farrelly's hiring official.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Pete Thamel, Penn State is set to hire Mike Farrelly as an assistant coach.

Farrelly spent seven seasons as an assistant at Hofstra, before being named interim head coach for the Pride in 2020-21. He guided Hofstra to a 13-10 record and a fourth-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Under his watch, the Pride averaged 73.1 points per game, third-best in the Colonial.

Previously, Farrelly worked as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary's and Niagara. He played for three seasons at Saint Joseph's, appearing in two NCAA Tournaments with the Hawks.

According to Thamel, one of the big reasons Micah Shrewsberry is adding Farrelly to his coaching staff is because of the latter's ties to the Northeast.

Farrelly rounds out Micah Shrewsberry's assistants, joining previously announced hires Adam Fisher and Aki Collins
