JUCO forward Jevonnie Scott committed to Penn State on Thursday, according to his Instagram. Scott starred at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, over the last two seasons.
The Toronto native averaged 11.5 points/game and 5.6 rebounds/game in just 20 minutes per game for the Texans in 2020-21. Scott is a former pledge of Buzz Williams at Texas A&M, but reopened his recruitment at the end of March.
Standing at 6-7, 240, Scott brings some much-needed front court depth to Penn State. Before his addition, Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry was looking at a very thin front line with super senior John Harrar and raw sophomore Abdou Tsimbila.
According to the Centre Daily Times, Scott will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, giving Shrewsberry his first transfer into the program with more than one campaign left. Penn State still has four open scholarships for next season, so there is a lot to sort out before the roster is finalized.
