There was another tough blow for Penn State in the transfer portal on Friday.

Per Verbal Commits, forward Abdou Tsimbila has entered the transfer portal.

While the Cameroon native played sparingly under ex-interim head coach Jim Ferry in 2020-21, Tsimbila showed flashes of potential in the limited minutes he did play.

He ran the floor pretty well, and showed promise as a defensive anchor, with nine blocked shots on the season.

Tsimbila's departure would leave Penn State razor thin at the five spot, with only John Harrar currently the only recognized big man on the roster. The team did sign JUCO forward Jevonnie Scott, but he projects as more of a four than a five.

Head coach Micah Shrewsberry was probably still in the market for another forward before Tsimbila entered the portal and this only enhances that need.
