It's hard not to be optimistic about the future of the Penn State Basketball program. Micah Shrewsberry has brought in a talented crop of transfers to infuse new talent into the program while also keeping nearly all of the team's top players from a season ago on board despite the coaching change. Not only that, but the 2022 recruiting class for the Nittany Lions currently ranks as the No. 11 class in the country and includes two of the top-five highest-rated recruits in program history (Kebba Njie and Jameel Brown).
The students have taken notice of the very real hype around this program right now, and have officially set a new record for student season tickets sold, per the team's Instagram account.
It's shaping up to be a fun winter in Happy Valley. While the Bryce Jordan Center has hardly been a house of horrors for any visiting program in the past, it's an arena that can get quite loud when full. Hopefully, the influx of season ticket holders combined with what should be an exciting team will entice more fans to get out to the games and fill the cavernous arena with more noise than usual.
Penn State is set to open its season against Youngstown State on Wednesday, November 10 in Happy Valley. Roar Lions Roar will have plenty more preview coverage as the regular season inches closer.
