One of the most dominating players in Pennsylvania will be staying home. Meadville running back Journey Brown has joined the Penn State Class of 2017.

Brown has long coveted an offer from the Nittany Lions, and it did not take long for him to jump on it when it arrived on Thursday evening.

The BROWN File

  • Class: 2017
  • Size: 5-11/194 lbs.
  • Pos: RB
  • School: Meadville Area Senior High School (Meadville, Pa.)
  • 247Sports Rating:  (85)
  • 247Sports Rank: No. 850 overall. No. 58 RB

Brown's other reported offers came from Syracuse and Temple. The biggest question for Penn State and Brown was always going to be space and need. The Lions did not necessarily need to take a running back in this class, with the depth chart already loaded with talent. However, running back is not all that different from quarterback in that taking one every year is not a bad idea.

Brown's career at Meadville reads almost like a video game. Over his career, he amassed 7,027 yards on 568 carries, and an absurd 104 touchdowns. About 10% of that came in one game last season, a 107-90 victory over DuBois where Brown put up 722 yards on 30 carries, and TEN TUDDIES.

Brown becomes the 19th member of Penn State's class, and the first running back. He will join a crowded, and talented backfield that features Saquon Barkley, Mark Allen, Miles Sanders, and Andre Robinson, all of whom saw carries in 2016. Obviously a redshirt is in the works.
