Penn State offensive line coach Matt Limegrover identified Michael Miranda as a player he wanted to coach back when he was with Minnesota. Once Limegrover joined the Penn State staff, Miranda became a priority. One season full of visits for every single home game later, Miranda is officially a Nittany Lion.

Scouting Report

There's a lot to love about Michael Miranda's high school tape. Once he locks in on a man, very few are able to escape his grasp, and most of them end up on the turf. This is a quality that Miranda shares with all of the offensive linemen in the class, but the Stow-Munroe product takes it to the next level with his aggressiveness.

Along with that power, the three-star prospect is a very intelligent player, which has prompted his reclassification on 247Sports as a center. Whether he finds his way onto the field early on or it takes a few season to get the ball rolling, Miranda has the potential to be an immovable beast in the middle of the offensive line.

Moving Forward

Thanks to his early enrollment, Penn State fans should probably expect to see Miranda on the field at some point in 2017. Preseason camp this year will be somewhat of an open tryout for center, with former five-star Michal Menet an option as well as Mr. Do-It-All Ryan Bates both possibilities to fill the role. Miranda will get a fair shot at the starting job, as well. Even if he doesn't win the job, he's pretty clearly the next in line, which means the staff won't be able to afford the luxury of putting the redshirt on him.

Who knows, though. Miranda could very easily follow Connor McGovern's path from last season and find himself starting on the line as a true freshman. Only time will tell.
