D.J. Brown is a three-star cornerback from Georgia who exploded on the recruiting scene early in 2016. Penn State got Brown to visit for last year's Blue/White game and extended an offer that weekend. He committed to the Lions ten days later, becoming the sixth player in the class. After committing, Brown was a regular at Penn State, visiting four more times including his official visit on Jan. 20, 2017. His other offers included UCLA, Cal, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Louisville.

Scouting Report

Brown is simply a solid athlete at corner. He's not the biggest or the fastest, but he's consistent and instinctual. He is quick enough to recover when he does make a mistake, but relies on his instincts to put him in position to make plays.

He's a little on the smaller size, like most of his fellow cornerbacks in the 2017 class, but he's a better tackler than you'd suspect. He's a little raw in coverage right now, but has the instincts and ball-hawking ability that will give his coaches something to work with. Brown has work to do, but he could be another great Penn State corner to come unheralded out of Georgia.

Moving Forward

Just like fellow corner Donovan Johnson, Brown would greatly benefit from a full year in Dwight Galt's lab. With Johnson and Lamont Wade joining him in this class, it's tough to see a road to playing time for Brown in 2017. Look for him to be a special teams contributor in 2018 and in the mix for secondary time in the years following. Our prediction for him is a red light for 2017.
