Isheem Young is a game-changing safety from a powerhouse high school program in Philadelphia. Today, the Imhotep Institute star became the latest prospect to join James Franklin's incredible 2018 recruiting class. Young is the sixth verbal commitment since Friday, capping off a wildly successful Lasch Bash weekend for the Nittany Lions.

The Young File

- Size: 5'9.5, 201 lbs.
- Pos: S
- School: Imhotep Institute (Philadelphia, PA)
- Composite Rating: ★★★★ (.9450)

Penn State has been among the favorites in Young's recruitment from the very start. He holds offers from just about every powerhouse program east of the Mississippi River -- including Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and a panoply of other programs.
It was the Seminoles, however, that were long considered the team to beat for Young. That seemed to change when he opted to stay in Pennsylvania, rather than attend IMG Academy. The Lions were able to take advantage of their close proximity, with Young making multiple visits over the past year.
Young is everything you could want in a safety -- a quick closing, punishing hitter that will put doubt and fear in the heads of opposing receivers. Depending on how the safety position plays out during the next two seasons, it's entirely conceivable to see Young make an impact early in his Nittany Lion career.
Young is the 20th member of the Class of 2018, and the second safety, joining Texas three-star prospect Isaiah Humphries. The Lions continue to sit at No. 3 in the 247Sports rankings.
