Over the past few weeks, rumors have been circulating that Pat Freiermuth, Penn State's four-star tight end prospect from North Andover, Mass., was checking out Notre Dame. The rumors date back, at least in part, to the Irish's scholarship offer in February.
Roar Lions Roar Senior Editor Nick Polak caught up with Freiermuth for the latest on his recruitment. We will have more from that interview over the weekend, but in rather emphatic fashion, he quickly put to rest any thoughts of wavering on his Penn State commitment:
I'm 110 percent committed to Penn State. I've told the coaches that since day one. It's nice to see Notre Dame pursue me hard, but I won't be visiting any place at all. I'm sticking to Penn State and my word to the coaches. I'm 110 percent committed to Penn State.
A lot would have to happen for me to even visit down there, or even consider decommitting from Penn State. I don't see that happening at all.
Make sure to check back to get Pat's thoughts on his Blue-White Game visit, this weekend's Opening Regional, and who the current commits have been targeting to join their class.
