A summer away from the recruiting chaos has not slowed down four-star offensive lineman Fredrick Scruggs. Despite not visiting any programs since late-spring, the man that goes by "Juice" has verbally committed to Penn State.
Scruggs has been one of the biggest names in what is a loaded Pennsylvania Class of 2018 for several years. His history with Penn State goes back to May of 2016 when he received his scholarship offer from James Franklin and the staff. From that moment, the Nittany Lions occupied a spot near the top of his list.

Despite holding scholarship offers from the likes of LSU, Michigan, and Michigan State, this was a battle between the Nittany Lions and Ohio State. The Buckeyes were aided in no small part by Scruggs' roots in Ashatabula, Ohio, hometown of some guy named Urban.
Scruggs was back in Happy Valley last fall to take in the thrilling 24-21 upset victory over the Buckeyes and returned again in April for the annual Blue-White game. From that point on, he took no further visits but remained in contact with both staffs before deciding to commit today.
Scruggs is the 21st commitment of Penn State's loaded 2018 class, which reclaims the No. 3 spot from Texas. He is the first true interior offensive lineman to join the class, which also features tackles Nana Asiedu, Antwan Reed, and Bryce Effner. Although, one or more of those players may ultimately join Scruggs at guard or center.
