MAZI Smith offered

Michigan continues to be a focal point in Penn State's growing recruiting footprint. In the 2017 class, the Lions signed a pair of Great Lakes State natives (K.J. Hamler, Donovan Johnson), and have a commitment from Muskegon's Antwan Reed in the Class of 2018.

There is also an intense focus on the mitten in 2019 with offers already out to Devontae Dobbs (Belleville), Logan Brown (Grand Rapids), and now Mazi Smith (Grand Rapids).

Smith, a four-star DT out of East Kentwood High School and the No. 4 overall player in Michigan, was offered by the Nittany Lions on Tuesday. Penn State will have tough competition, as Ohio State also extended their offer on Tuesday, joining Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Alabama, among others.

Isaiah Humphries Heading North

Next weekend's Michigan game figures to be the biggest recruiting event of the Nittany Lions' season. While James Franklin and the staff typically encourage their verbally committed players to visit in January for a big weekend together, not every prospect can make that work. Three-star Texas safety Isaiah Humphries confirmed on Twitter that he will be returning to Happy Valley for the Whiteout on an official visit.

social media UPDATE

Top 2019 target Antonio Alfano was back in State College for last month's Georgia State game, and five-star DT continues to hear from Penn State.
