Kwantel Raines has long been one of Penn State's high priorities on the defensive side of the ball in the 2018 recruiting class. Raines has been a frequent visitor in Happy Valley, despite hailing from a Pittsburgh-area school (Aliquippa High School). Though the Nittany Lions have had a lot of trouble pulling in kids from the WPIAL power recently, Raines may represent their best shot at a commitment from the school in some time.
On Thursday, Raines took the next step in his recruiting process by naming a top-five group of schools, which included Penn State.

Joining Penn State in the top group are West Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, and of course, hometown Pitt. He will reportedly announce a decision in October. Right now Pitt and West Virginia appear to be the favorites.
Raines will be on campus this weekend in State College along with many other high-profile targets. Check back to Roar Lions Roar on Friday for a full list of the prospects expected to be in attendance.
