Commit Watch

Anytime Penn State hosts a big recruiting weekend, the biggest question is always who will verbally commit.

Many eyes will be on Connecticut quarterback Will Levis. The three-star signal caller has yet to be offered a scholarship by the Nittany Lions staff, but will participate in Friday night's camp. Should he impress, as he has done at every camp stop this summer, expect that offer to be extended, and the Lions to jump to the top of the list.

Four-star safety Isheem Young has long been trending to the Lions, but his announcement is still scheduled for next Tuesday.

Players like Daniel George, Rasheed Walker, Shaquon Anderson-Butts, and P.J. Mustipher have also made big moves towards the blue and white on their 247Sports Crystal Balls, so any of those names would not be a huge surprise. However, none of them have indicated they are quite ready to end their recruitment.

It would not be a huge surprise to see a 2019 visitor commit this weekend. In 2014, Miles Sanders and Shane Simmons both committed prior to their junior seasons, Sean Clifford did the same in 2015, and newly minted five-star Justin Shorter announced in August of last year. Brandon Smith is bringing along a large group of visitors, but he told RLR's Nick Polak that his plan is still to make a decision around this time next year. Neither Jordan Houston, Nyquee Hawkins nor Caedan Wallace are expected to decide this early, but several other rumored, but unconfirmed 2019 visitors might fit the bill.
