At least four future Nittany Lions will suit up during this evening's Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando. Five-star WR Justin Shorter, five-star APB Ricky Slade, four-star DT PJ Mustipher, and three-start ATH Shaquon Anderson-Butts are scheduled to take part in the festivities.
A pair of Nittany Lion targets — four-star defensive linemen Tyreke Smith and Jayson Oweh — are also scheduled to participate and announce their college choices at various points during the game. Oweh will join the four Penn State signees on Team Spotlight, while Smith will suit up for Team Highlight.
If you are to believe the 247Sports Crystal Ball picks, this will continue to be the case at the next level. All but one pick for Oweh has him heading to Happy Valley, while the same is true of Smith staying home to play for the Buckeyes.
My pick is in the majority in both cases. With Smith, Penn State was in solid position up until about a month ago. But Ohio State has had all of the momentum since then, thanks in large part to a wide open depth chart. Smith will announce his choice after the coin toss, and I fully expect him to stay home with the Buckeyes.
Oweh has been as back and forth a battle as I can remember in recent years. He has visited each school a number of times, and hosted both the Ohio State and Penn State coaching staffs right before the dead period commenced last month. Based on what we have been told, the Nittany Lions are the favorite to land his services this evening. Oweh's announcement will come between the game's third and fourth quarters.
The game will air on ESPN2 starting at 6 p.m. EST.
