Sheffield is the 18th-best prospect in 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 6-1, 178-pounder has been offered by most of the major southeastern schools as well as Ohio State and Oklahoma. All 15 of his current 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions have him ending up as a Seminole. He visited Florida State and Miami in unofficial capacities last summer.
