april is 5-star season

The amount of highly regarded talent visiting and scheduled to visit Penn State spring practice this April is absurd and perhaps unprecedented. This is what we envisioned when James Franklin's program would finally pair recruiting prowess with one of the best two-year on-field runs in Nittany Lion history. Here's a rundown of some marquee visitors.

  • Paris Johnson (Cincinnati) is only 2020's No. 7 overall player. Seems good. He broke down his visit with Sean Fitz of Lions247.
  • Julian Fleming (Catawissa, PA) is wearing out the 90-mile drive to State College. The 2020 phenom was on campus Monday (Rivals' recap [$]) and will return for the Blue & White game in two weeks.
  • Continuing with the five-star theme, Franklin locked up a B/W game official visit for Owen Pappoe (Loganville, GA), the nation's No. 1 linebacker for 2019. I'm not sure anyone realistically thinks Pappoe will end up in Happy Valley, but man, just getting that official is seriously impressive. Here's more on the visit from Fitz.
  • 2019's No. 3 overall player DE Zach Harrison (Lewis Center, Ohio) will be in town for an official visit for the Blue and White game. HECK YES, JAMES.
  • One of the top running backs in the nation for 2019, Noah Cain (IMG Academy) will visit Happy Valley to close out the month. You can get more on the unofficial visit from Tyler Donohue at Land of 10.
  • A couple of 2020 Jersey four stars popped in to practice on Wednesday. Jalen Berger (Don Bosco Prep) and Jordan Morant (Bergen Catholic) are among top sophomore targets for the Lions. Fitz has more.
  • Isaiah Foskey (Concord, CA), a 2019 four-star tight end, will check out Penn State this weekend on an official visit. It's the first spring official Franklin and staff have hosted under the new recruiting calendar.
  • A 2020 QB to watch is Jahquil Batts from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey. He visited Penn State on Monday.

all-american honors for fleming

Continuing its rise as perhaps the marquee post-season high school all star game, the 2020 Under Armour All-American game recently added Penn State's (hopefully) sweet, sweet Julian Fleming to its roster. Congrats, Julian!

offers rundown

  • Franklin dipped into Ole Miss' commitment pool for a recent offer. Three-star DT Lloyd Murray Jr. (Wichita Falls, TX) reported an offer early this week.
  • 2019 four-star DB Trikweze Bridges (Lanett, AL) continues Franklin's 2019 philosophy of offering players from literally anywhere in the country. Bridges has blown up in early 2018 with recent offers from Oregon, Ohio State, Florida State, Ole Miss, and LSU.
