James Franklin continues to get good news on the linebacker recruiting front. Fresh off a commitment from four-star Lance Dixon on Sunday, and last month's commitment from five-star Brandon Smith, the head Lion got a bit of good news in the 2020 class. The nation's No. 2 OLB, Mekhail Sherman (Washington D.C.), listed Penn State among his finalists.

Sherman is one of a handful of juniors to get an invite to this week's Opening Finals in Dallas. In fact, he earned a bit of praise from 247Sports' Brian Dohn for his performance at the event's opening day.
There's a long way to go in the five-star's recruitment, but Franklin has to feel pretty good about his chances with Sherman. The St. John's College High School star has visited Happy Valley four times in the last year, and figures to be back again soon. Sherman's other finalists include a host of blue-chip programs, Clemson, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Auburn, and South Carolina. Currently, Sherman has no planned commitment date.
