A little over a month ago, Zachary Franks was something of an unknown among Penn State fans. Now, he's the latest member of the Nittany Lions' Class of 2019. The three-star offensive line prospect out of Maryland has verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.

Franks has shot up the board for Penn State over the last five weeks. His first visit to Happy Valley came in late-June, just prior to the start of the recently concluded dead period. He camped for James Franklin, Matt Limegrover, and the rest of the coaching staff and earned his offer that same day.
The FRANKS File
- Class: 2019
- Size: 6'6/290 lbs.
- Pos: OL
- School: The Gilman School (Baltimore, MD)
- Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8559)
- Composite Rank: No. 881 overall/No. 86 OT
Penn State is the most recent school of over 30 to offer Franks. They joined the likes of Duke, Northwestern, Rutgers, Arizona, Cal, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Pitt, and Syracuse. The Blue Devils, Wildcats, and Scarlet Knights joined the Nittany Lions in Franks' recently released top-four.
Already a big body at 6'6" and 290 pounds, Franks exhibits exceptional footwork for a young player his size. That can likely be traced, at least in part, to his basketball background. While Franks projects as a tackle, and that will be where he gets his first look, he will have the luxury of time to settle into a role with the Nittany Lions likely not expecting any significant contributions until 2021.
Franks is commitment No. 15 in the 2019 class, and joins four-star prospects Caedan Wallace, and Saleem Wormley along the line. His commitment moves the Lions up to No. 13 nationally.
