Even though he wasn't able to make it to this weekend's Lasch Bash at Penn State (his father had the pleasure of standing in), IMG Academy running back Noah Cain included the Nittany Lions in his final six as announced on Twitter Sunday night. The Lions stand alongside Ohio State, Texas, Auburn, LSU, and Oklahoma in the race for Cain's college commitment.
Cain earned an offer from James Franklin and the staff at the end of January and made it to State College for a visit back in April. Recently, he spoke with SB Nation about Penn State's role in his recruitment:
“They made a big jump on me when they offered me in January,” Cain said. “Coach [James] Franklin and coach [Ja’Juan] Seider have been making a real big push.”
Cain’s mom and dad are set to visit Penn State this weekend. According to Cain, his mom really had to like what Penn State said for her to leave home and travel to Pennsylvania.
“We from Baton Rouge so it’s different,” Cain said. “If my mom is going and she really don’t go no where, she been blown away by what they had to say.”
Penn State already holds a verbal pledge from Devyn Ford, the fourth-ranked running back of the 2019 cycle, but it is no secret that they would love to add a second back in the class if the right prospect were available. Cain, the sixth-best RB prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, would certainly qualify as the right prospect. He elected not to use any official visits during the early period this spring, so all five will take place this fall. It would appear likely that the Nittany Lions will earn one of those trips.
