While Metro Detroit is not where you would typically look to find perhaps the next great Nittany Lion linebacker, four-star prospect Lance Dixon has all of the traits to be a great one. The former safety is perhaps the most athletic all-around player in the 2019 class and will have a chance to make an immediate impact.

247Sports Scouting Report
Very good athlete with excellent speed especially at his size. Started off as a safety, but moved into the box as a linebacker his junior year. In college, he can project as a true linebacker or as a hybrid depending on the school and defensive scheme. He has rare ability to cover at his size. He can play man to man and has the makeup speed to stay with slots and running backs. He has not been used as an edge blitzer much in his high school scheme, but has the skills to do that. After one year closer to the line of scrimmage, continuing to work on taking on and shedding blocks is key for him moving forward. - Allen Trieu (More at 247Sports)
When we started signing up for who would be writing these articles recently, I made sure I got to claim Dixon. He is my favorite player in this class, and one I expect to have a great career in Happy Valley.
Dixon possesses the type of high end athleticism you cannot teach, and coaches dream about. It does not take long to see that on his senior highlight film. He played on both sides of the ball for West Bloomfield, and just completed only his second season at linebacker after moving up from safety. Once he gets his mind wrapped around the position, the sky is the limit.
This is probably a combination of my personal bias, plus the depth chart at linebacker. However, Dixon is set to enroll early next month and get a head start on his collegiate career. With plenty of uncertainty at linebacker heading into the 2019 season, I expect Dixon to take advantage of the opportunity, plus his free four games, and show he is too good to keep off of the field.
