Lackawanna Community College has given the Nittany Lions a handful of contributors, but Anthony Whigan has the chance to be the best of them all. Overlooked in high school, it's his time to prove he can compete with the top players in the country.

Anthony Whigan
Position: Offensive tackle
Height/Weight: 6'5/290 lbs.
Junior College: Lackawanna Community College (PA)

RLR's Take

Whigan is a bully. He wants to drive you into the ground make you afraid to get back up. As a run blocker, he can pancake a defensive lineman with ease and climb to the second level to help spring a big run. He also has the rare ability to toss people aside in pass coverage (skip to 1:10 in his highlight tape below and start drooling). At 6'5/290, he's got great size but probably needs to add 15 pounds to stay at tackle at the next level.

Moving Forward

Yellow light.

Being a JUCO prospect, Whigan's circumstances a bit different than your average signee. He looks ready to play right away on tape, but it's a big jump from the junior college ranks to the Big Ten. The staff should play him the first few games of the season to figure out if he's ready or not. If he holds his own, the staff should let him continue. If he looks lost, the staff should redshirt him and hope he could step into a larger role in 2020. Regardless, he will provide great depth for the line going forward and could end up being a multi-year starter when it's all said and done.
