From the moment Saleem Wormley was offered by the Nittany Lions, it was clear they would be tough to overcome. It still took some convincing, but the four-star prospect ended up in Happy Valley after all, and will now begin his time at Penn State in a crowded but very talented offensive line room.

Saleem Wormley

RLR's Take

Wormley doesn't have elite size or athleticism and needs to shed some bad weight when he gets on campus, just as most freshmen linemen do. With all of this, however, he has shown aggression and power in his blocking at the high school level. He has played primarily right tackle, so his footwork may be marginally enhanced compared to most true freshmen. His first few years with the program will be spent transforming his body and improving his technique.

James Franklin has made it a point of emphasis to find linemen with a nasty streak and after a couple years in the program for Wormley, this recruitment may pay huge dividends.

Moving Forward

Red light.

There's not much of a chance for Wormley to gain meaningful snaps during his first year on campus. Assuming McGovern and Gonzalez return, they are entrenched as the starters at both guard spots. Behind them are several promising young linemen in Mike Miranda, Juice Scruggs, and C.J. Thorpe. Wormley also does not play the highest the level of competition in Delaware, and will almost certainly need time to adjust to the physicality and speed of the B1G.

That being said, Penn State has had great success with the best players Delaware has to offer in the past, so here's to hoping Wormley is more of the same.
